Rectal cancer is one of the most relevant pathologies in digestive surgery today, with the surgeon and his technical excellence being one of the most decisive prognostic factors. On the other hand, in addition to the surgeon's technical skills, technological development and progress in other fields on which we rely, mainly radiotherapy and oncology, have meant that the treatment of this pathology has changed substantially in recent years. This monographic volume aims to describe the present of rectal cancer surgery, maintaining a point of view oriented towards the most recent advances and future perspectives that will accompany us in the coming years.
