Abstract

Adequate assessment of pressure ulcers involvement in patients with neurological diseases has crucial therapeutic implications, especially as for the early detection of fistula to inner structures and osteomyelitis (OM) are concerned. Two case reports are presented, with patients with a similar ischiatic ulcer, in whom an 18F-FDG PET/CT study allowed a precise assessment of infectious complications in inner tissues, thus supporting the implementation of 18F-FDG PET/CT as a first-line technique in their management.
