Abstract

Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis is considered one of the sub-types of vascular brain disease. Congenital or acquired thrombophilias are its main etiology. Thrombolysis has been proposed as an alternative treatment, but management lysing the clot by anticoagulation remains the cornerstone of treatment.

Thrombolysis with or without thrombectomy, and despite having no controlled clinical trials, is a treatment option for accelerating recanalization of the occluded venous sinus, being able to shorten the ICU stay.

A review of the literature up to the present was performed, and the case of a patient aged 31 with extensive thrombosis of the dural venous sinus is presented. This patient progressed to super selective thrombolysis of venous sinus due to persistent headaches and drowsiness despite anticoagulation management. The patient made excellent progress after complete recanalization of them.
