Las técnicas MIPO reducen la estancia hospitalaria pero no las complicaciones ni la mortalidad.

En mayores de 65 años, la apertura del foco de fractura se asocia a un aumento del riesgo de infección.

En mayores de 65 años, un retraso de más de 48 horas hasta la cirugía aumenta las tasas de mortalidad.
- •
La mortalidad de estas fracturas es semejante a la de las fracturas de cadera durante el primer año.
- •
Las fracturas de alta energía tienen mayor tasa de complicaciones, en especial de pseudoartrosis.
