Surgery for hyperparathyroidism due to the presence of heterotopic adenomas can be a major challenge, especially if the location is mediastinal. In these anatomically complex cases, surgical planning by means of three-dimensional reconstruction can be of great help. In addition, the advent of robotic surgery allows for the use of minimally invasive access, increasing the precision of maneuvers during the procedure.
We present the case of a patient who underwent successful resection of a juxta-aortic parathyroid adenoma by the robot-assisted thoracic approach, whose localization and surgical planning was complemented by 3D reconstruction.
