Summary

A case of a 44 year old woman with grade IV lymphedema-elephantiasis in lower limbs, of 20 years evolution, with multiple skin complications in the context of gigantism that appeared in childhood as a consequence of a hypophysial tumor that produces growth hormone (GH) is presented. The excessive production of GH causes excessive growth of bone, cartilaginous tissues, viscera, soft tissues as well as endocrine and cardiovascular abnormalities. The results of the decongestive treatment of lymphedema, with manual lymph drainage, multicompartimental pressotherapy, compressive bandages and kinesiotherapy, followed by maintenance therapy, were satisfactory, the patient remaining stable at present.
