Cancer patients’ spiritual well-being and comfort levels: The impacts of church visitation

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between Church visitation to spiritual well-being and the comfort level of cancer patients. This study used a cross-sectional analytical method with a consecutive sampling technique in 146 cancer patients in Manado. The results showed that cancer patients visited by the Church had good spiritual well-being of 77.4% and high level of comfort by 50%. In multivariate analysis it was found that the most influential factor in spiritual well-being of cancer patient was Church visitation (p = 0.008) and family support (0.017). Cancer patients who receive church visitation and adequate family support have relationship with good spiritual well-being.
