Original Articles. This section will contain articles on oral surgery, preprosthetic and implant surgery, oncology and reconstructive surgery, orthognathic surgery, aesthetics and craniofacial deformities, craniomaxillofacial traumatology, temporomandibular joint, salivary glands, and any related topic. They could be articles on research and experimental surgery, summaries of PhD theses, experimental clinical trials or articles with a more clinical approach. They should be structured into: Introduction, Material and method, Results, Discussion, Conclusions and Bibliography. They will have a maximum length of 10 DIN-A4 pages and up to 3 Tables and 10 Figures will be admitted. They will include an Abstract and its translation (Resumen) of a maximum of 250 words, structured into: Introduction, Material and method, Results, and Conclusions. The article must have no more than 25 literature references. The maximum number of authors will be 6.For the preparation of controlled clinical trials the CONSORT guidelines should be followed, available at http://www.consort-statement.org/. For observational studies, the items set out in the checklist available at http://www.strobe-statement.org/; should be used. For systematic reviews and meta-analysis, the PRISMA guidelines available at: http://www.prisma-statement.org/statement.htm. In studies on the validity of diagnostic tests the STARD guidelines should be followed, available at: http://www.stard-statement.org
Clinical Cases. This Section is for publication of brief reports on studies or clinical cases. From 1 to 4 authors. The text can be up to 800 words. No abstract. Up to 2 figures and/or tables. Up to 10 references.
Letters to the Editor. Objections or comments relative to works previously published, or brief descriptions of observations or experiences will be published here. The maximum length of the text must not exceed 2 DIN-A4 pages and up to 10 literature references will be admitted. Up to two Figures
and one Table can be included. The number of signing authors is limited to 4. Those Letters that make reference to works previously published in the Journal will have the right to a reply by the author, who will be able to contest it, within a period of one month, in a Letter of similar length. The relevance to the publication will be assessed by the Editorial Committee.
Resident’s Page.These articles will be signed by medical residents of the speciality. They will consist of the presentation of a clinical case of interest. On the first DIN A-4 page, the clinical history, the examination, complementary tests with their results and, if applicable, the histology findings. From the second page onwards, the definitive diagnosis and how it was arrived at, with the possible differential diagnoses, and a brief discussion on the topic. The total length of the article will be up to 4 pages of DIN A-4 with double spacing. The number of literature references must not exceed 10. It should provide illustrations, with a maximum of 5 Figures. There will be a maximum number of 4 signing authors.
Reviews.The topics will be proposed to national or international professionals, with recognised experience in the field, by the Editorial Board of the Journal. It will contain an update on a current topic in the speciality using a recent review of the literature. It should have a maximum length of 10 DIN-A4 pages. The Abstract and its translation (Resumen) will be 250 words long, with 4 Key Words in English and Spanish at the end. There will be no more than 50 literature references.
Controversies. These will be articles commissioned by the Journal Editorial Board to two national or international professionals, with proven knowledge of the subject in question. The authors will express different points of view on the same current scientific topic. The length shall not exceed 10 DIN A-4 pages (and up to 5 Tables and 10 Figures will be admitted). There will be a maximum of 25 literature references. It will include an Abstract and its translation (Resumen) of a maximum of 250 words, structured into: Objectives, Material and method, Results, and Conclusions, and with 4 key words in English and Spanish. There will be a maximum of 4 signing authors.
Other sections. The Journal contains other commissioned sections, such as the Editorial and the literature Review, as well as Courses and Congresses, and the Awards and Grants section.
