A 17-year-old male patient presented with an exuberant vegetative mass originating at the base of the tongue that protruded out of the mouth. The mass had grown slowly, developing over the course of several years. Its consistency was firm and relatively mobile, displacing the tongue upwards and towards the right, surrounded by normal oral mucosa, causing serious aesthetic repercussions and impeding proper eating (Figs. 1 and 2). We performed an extracapsular resection of the mass, which the biopsy identified as a schwannoma.
