Spontaneous renal hemorrhage of non-traumatic origin (Wünderlich syndrome) is an infrequent and serious condition. The most common cause is tumor disease, with renal cysts and blood dyscrasia being rare origins. Ultrasound is the most useful technique for the initial visualization of bleeding, though computed axial tomography (CAT) is the best option for evaluating these patients. Treatment must be as conservative as possible, using arteriography with embolization of the causal vessels where necessary.
