The European Salt Action Network (E.S.A.N.) was established under the auspices of W.H.O. and with the support of the United Kingdom Food Standards Agency. It promotes the harmonization of salt intake reduction programmes in EU countries. Switzerland leads this network, which 39 countries have since joined: Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgystan, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Uzbekistan.
