Palmar Scaphoid Dislocation Associated With Dorsal Perilunate Dislocation: Case Report

Most dislocations of the carpal bones present as a lunate or perilunate dislocation. We report a case of a palmar scaphoid dislocation combined with a dorsal perilunate dislocation.

Case Report

A 59-year-old, right-handed man fell from a 5-m-high ladder. He was transferred to our hand clinic on the second day from a local clinic because of a failure of closed reduction of dislocated carpal bones on the day of injury. The patient reported severe pain in his right wrist, which was swollen, bruised, and deformed. Circulation in the right hand had been maintained, but sensation in the 4 radial digits was decreased. We reviewed 34 cases of isolated scaphoid dislocation in 29 English language articles from 1930 onward.1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29Table 1 lists the epidemiological data, mode of injury, radiographic data, combined injury, type of surgery, and complications.
