  • Characteristics and factors associated with nosocomial pneumonia among patients undergoing continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT): A case–control study

2018, International Journal of Infectious Diseases
    Citation Excerpt :

CRRT is an adjunctive invasive procedure for patients that involves venous cannulas (femoral vein or internal jugular vein). Microbial adhesion and colonization may occur, leading to the development of cannula-related infections (Hahne et al., 2015; Kuehn et al., 2013). Moreover, bacteria can easily enter the blood circulation through the cannula or open skin, leading to tissue and organ susceptibility to infection.
