Resumen

En este trabajo se presentan los Modelos Semifísicos de Base Fenomenológica (MSBF) como herramienta útil en el diseño, control y optimización de procesos químicos y biotecnológicos. Se realiza una descripción detallada de un método para la obtención de MSBF a partir del conocimiento y principios básicos de los procesos: balances de materia, energía y cantidad de movimiento, así como el principio de gradiente para obtener ecuaciones constitutivas. Se aplica el procedimiento descrito a la etapa de clarificación de un ingenio azucarero. En particular, se modela la torre de sulfitación de dicha etapa. El modelo se contrasta con el comportamiento de una sulfitadora real a través de simulación.
