Abstract
Introduction

Sleep disorders are very common in dialysis patients. The most common problems are insomnia, restless legs syndrome, sleep apnea, periodic limb movements, and excessive daytime sleepiness.

Objective

To present an updated review of the medical literature on sleep disorders in patients on dialysis for chronic kidney disease.

Methods

We reviewed recent articles published on the topic, seeking partnerships, pathophysiologic mechanisms, and treatment recommendations.

Results and Conclusion

Sleep disorders are common clinical problems in patients on dialysis for chronic kidney disease that negatively impact the quality of life and health of those who suffer from them. They need to be properly diagnosed by the medical teams treating these patients.
