Existe un interés creciente en el desarrollo de métodos no agresivos para tratar la piel fotoenvejecida.</p> <span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Objetivo</span><p id="spar0010" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">El propósito de este estudio es evaluar la eficacia de la luz pulsada intensa (LPI) en el fotorrejuvenecimiento de la piel de las manos, tanto de los lentigos como de las arrugas y la textura de la piel.</p> <span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Material y métodos</span><p id="spar0015" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">Se trató a 18 pacientes con grados variables de fotoenvejecimiento de la piel del dorso de las manos. Se aplicaron en todo el dorso de la mano tres sesiones de un sistema de LPI, no láser y no ablativo, en intervalos de 4 a 6 semanas. Las energías fueron de 32 a 41 J/cm2. Se valoraron por separado el grado de aclaramiento de los lentigos y las arrugas y la textura de la piel, mediante la siguiente escala de resultados: malo (0-25%), regular (26-50%), bueno (51-75%) y excelente (76-100%). Además, a tres de los pacientes se les llevaron a cabo biopsias cutáneas antes y después de las tres sesiones para analizar los cambios histológicos en la piel tratada.</p> <span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Resultados</span><p id="spar0020" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">Se objetivó un aclaramiento bueno o excelente de los lentigos en 16 de 18 pacientes. Además, la piel del dorso de las manos adquirió mejor textura y elasticidad en 15 de los 18 casos tratados. En conjunto, los pacientes estuvieron muy satisfechos con el resultado. El tratamiento fue rápido, seguro, cómodo y sin efectos secundarios importantes; además, no se requirió anestesia previa ni baja laboral postratamiento.</p> <span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Conclusiones</span><p id="spar0025" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">El tratamiento con LPI es un tratamiento eficaz, seguro y rápido para el rejuvenecimiento de la piel de las manos, y con él se logra mejorar, al mismo tiempo, los lentigos y la textura de la piel.</p>" ] "en" => array:1 [ "resumen" => "<span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Background</span><p id="spar0030" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">Photo aging of the hands is characterized by pigmented lesions or lentigines, cutaneous atrophy, laxity or loss of elasticity, and wrinkles. There is growing interest in the development of non-invasive methods to treat photoaged skin.</p> <span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Aim</span><p id="spar0035" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">To evaluate the efficacy of intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy in the photorejuvenation of both lentigines and the texture of hand skin.</p> <span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Materials and methods</span><p id="spar0040" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">Eighteen patients with various grades of photo damage to the skin on the dorsum of the hand were treated. A non-laser, non-ablative IPL system was applied to the entire dorsum of the hand in 3 sessions, performed at intervals of 4-6 weeks. Fluences varied from 32 to 41 J/cm2. The degree of improvement in lentigines, wrinkles, and skin texture was evaluated separately using the following scale: poor (0-25%), average (26-50%), good (51-75%) and excellent (76-100%). In addition, 3 of the patients underwent skin biopsies before and after the 3 sessions to analyze histological changes in the treated skin.</p> <span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Results</span><p id="spar0045" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">In 16 of the 18 patients, improvement in lentigines was good or excellent. Moreover, in 15 patients, skin on the dorsum of the hand acquired better texture and elasticity. All together, patients were highly satisfied with the results. The treatment was quick, safe and comfortable. There were no important adverse effects. Neither prior anesthesia nor time off work after treatment were required.</p> <span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Conclusions</span><p id="spar0050" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">IPL is an effective, safe and quick method of rejuvenating skin on the dorsum of the hand.
