Abstract
Objective

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a three-month educational intervention on knowledge, systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), and weight in primary care hypertensive patients.

Material and methods

A quasi-experimental design was used. Knowledge was assessed using the validated Hypertension Evaluation of Lifestyle and Management scale, and SBP, DBP, and weight were measured at baseline and post-intervention.

Results

Patient knowledge significantly improved, with the average score increasing from 2.77±2.31 to 10.25±3.84 (p<0.001). SBP showed a significant reduction (−7.5mmHg; p<0.001), and average weight decreased significantly (−1.26kg; p<0.001). DBP reduction was non-significant (−0.7mmHg; p=0.222).

Conclusions

The educational intervention significantly improved hypertension knowledge, reduced SBP, and decreased weight. Structured patient education should be integrated into primary care to enhance lifestyle modifications.
