Summary

The authors present three cases of osteochondroplastic tracheobronchopathy. All the diagnoses were made while the patient was live. In two cases, the principal symptom was hematic expectoration, and in the third, the indication of fibronchoscopy was based on the presence of a chronic bronchorrhea. In one case the disease affected all the trachea, in another the inferior half of the trachea and principal bronchi, and in the third the islets of cartilage and calcification were located in a very limited portion of the tracheobronchial tree.

Tracheal tomography and bronchoscopy were the methods used by the authors to establish the antemortem diagnosis of this disease.
