Summary

The association of pneumothorax and bronchopulmonary carcinoma is extremely rare. However, by chance the authors have seen two such cases within a short period of time. After comparing them to the mentioned statistics, the authors feel that they are worthy of being reported, which is what motivated the current paper. The authors indícate that, although the simultaneous presentation of these entities is rare, it should be taken into account for patients over 40 years oíd who are suffering from pneumothorax and whose cases cannot be resolved with standard methods. At this point methods of detection necessary to diagnoze a possible underlying neoplastic pathology should be used.
