Abstract

The carcinoma of the border of the tongue is one of the most common carcinomas of the oral cavity, makes up 37 % of all oral tumors. 90 % of these correspond to squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). The survival rate is estimated at 5 years and is inversely proportional to its detection. Hence the importance of detecting early-stage lesions. The objective of this paper is to discuss what type of treatment is more effective for the early stages of carcinoma of the tongue to allow a prolonged survival with minimal sequelae.
