Como quiera que la luxación posterior de hombro no produce una deformidad llamativa, algunas no se reconocen durante semanas o meses encontrándonos luego ante una luxación crónica que precisa un tratamiento más complejo. Es una lesión poco frecuente, de ahí el escaso numero de pacientes.
El presente artículo quiere remarcar que la reconstrucción de la cabeza humeral, sin modificación en la inserción anatómica del subescapular es el tratamiento de elección en la luxación posterior inveterada de hombro.
Entendemos que recuperando la forma esférica de la cabeza humeral se consigue mayor estabilidad que con transposiciones, pudiéndose realizar la reconstrucción hasta un 50% o más de cabeza humeral tanto en personas jóvenes o de edad, siempre que tengan un buen stock óseo.
