Abstract

Amyloidosis is characterized by the extracellular deposition of abnormal amyloid protein fibrils in tissues. Amyloidosis of the eyelid and conjunctiva (AEC) is a rare clinical finding. We present the case of a 48-year-old female patient with pinkish-yellow infiltration in the upper and lower bulbar conjunctiva, along with a firm, well-circumscribed nodular lesion on the lower eyelid of the right eye. Biopsies of the eyelid and conjunctiva were performed, and histological examination confirmed amyloid deposition with Congo red staining. AEC is a rare entity that is often underdiagnosed. Although it most frequently manifests as a localized process, systemic involvement must always be ruled out.
