The authors describe 3 cases of chronic eosinophylic pneumonia (CEP). The radiographic finding responded to the classical description in two while the third patient presented an infrequent form of onset. This patient had bronchial asthma of 40 years standing and during steroid treatment developed clinical and radiolofical signs suggesting an infectious process; radiographic findings showed cavitation and pleural effusion while clinical symptoms included severe acute respiratory insufficiency. Steroid treatment elicited a favourable response. The clinical, radiological and pathological findings with both the optic and electron microscope are discussed.
