Summary

The authors present a case of bronchogenic squamouscell carcinoma, microinvasive, detected precociously by bronchoscopy and cytology, with negativo biopsies and not visible radiologically. They insist on the origin of squamouscell carcinoma at the level of segmentary bronchus, on the frequent absence of squamous metaplasia in the margins of this type of tumors and its possible interpretations as well as the practical value of bronchial cytology as a diagnostic method. They recommend screening programs for high risk groups of population.
