EVOLUCIÓN DEL PERFIL PRODUCTIVO EN EL TRASTORNO DEL LENGUAJE

The objective of this paper is to compare the evolution of sentence type productions and the difficulties (seen as omissions or errors) that SLI children and their Age and MLU-W controls do. The data were collected from longitudinal analysis of Spanish–Catalan SLI bilingual children, aged from 3,6 to 5,6 in three time points. The results show an initial divergent profile in the SLI group, considered deviant, which evolves towards a clear convergent competence but with a persistent, although small percentage of difficulties. The difficulties that differentiate this group most clearly are characterized as productions with multiple omissions in Time 1, even in the simple elliptical sentences. Omissions outnumber significantly the known morphological and syntactic errors. This result suggests that, in addition to linguistic difficulties, other cognitive problems (either conceptual or pragmatic) may be present in this late beginning, extreme initial poverty but convergent progress towards normally under early therapy.
