Abstract

Aims. To evaluate the accordance of measures of the therapeutic compliance in osteoporosis and the factors involved. Methods. Descriptive observational study. The evaluation methods were: a) self-reported adherence (Haynes-Sackett), b) Morisky test, c) self-reported adherence (15 previous days) and d) medical judgement. Results. 83 patients were evaluated. Compliance was: 86.7% for self-reported adherence; 55.4% Morisky test; 66,3% self-reported adherence (15 previous days) and 75.9% using medical judgement. No concordance was found among the four methods of measure. However, agreement between methods 2 and 3 was found when written and by phone test were compared. Conclusions. Medication compliance measured by several tests is high in patients with osteoporosis. Accordance between written and by phone tests was observed in most cases. Demographic and clinical data were not associated with measurements of compliance.
