Orbital varices are venous malformations produced by an abnormaldilatation of one or more orbital veins, probably associated with con-genital weakness of the vascular wall. They are rare lesions, usuallyoccurring in young patients, that produce intermittent proptosis relatedto the increase in the systemic venous pressure. The presence of he-morrhage or thrombosis is associated with rapid development of proptosis, pain and decreased ocular motility.

We report the cases of two adult patients with orbital varices complicated by thrombosis in whom the diagnosis was based on computedtomography. The ultrasound and magnetic resonance findings are alsodiscussed.
