Dolor persistente en hueco poplíteo tras prótesis total de rodilla: Incidencia y tratamiento del punto gatillo 3 del gastrocnemio
Persistent pain in the back of the knee after total kneearthroplasty: Incidence and treatment of the trigger point 3 of gastrocnemius muscle

The object of this study is looking for the relationship between persistent pain in the back of knee after total knee arthroplasty, and the activation of the trigger point 3 of gastrocnemius muscle (TrP3).

In this investigation we have taken ten patients (8 women and 2 men), that have been examinated, as a result we have found a high frequency of TrP3 of gastrocnemius in patients with total knee arthroplasty.

In the other hand, we divided all patients with TrP3 activated in two groups: experimental and control. At the end, after a domiciliary program of ischemic pressure and stretching during five days, it has been checked not only a decrease in pain perception level but also a decrease in the palpation of the painful threshold. These results were more significant in the experimental group than in the control group.
